The Peer-Review Process
Tafani Journal for Humanities and Social Sciences is committed to the highest standards of quality and integrity in its peer-review process to ensure the publication of original and reliable scientific research. The journal employs a Double-Blind Peer Review system, where the reviewers are unaware of the authors' identities, and the authors are unaware of the reviewers' identities. This process aims to achieve an objective and fair evaluation of submitted manuscripts based on their scientific quality, originality, and scholarly contribution.
The journal's review process follows these steps:
-
Manuscript Submission: After an author submits their manuscript through the journal's online submission system, the editorial office conducts an initial screening. This checks the manuscript's compliance with the basic publishing requirements outlined in the "Author Guidelines" and its suitability for the journal's scope.
-
Assignment to Reviewers: If the manuscript passes the initial screening, it is sent to two or more expert reviewers specializing in the manuscript's field. Reviewers are selected with great care based on their expertise and scientific competence in the subject matter.
-
Double-Blind Peer Review: Reviewers evaluate the manuscript independently according to specific criteria, including:
-
The originality and scientific significance of the work.
-
The clarity of the methodology and the accuracy of the results.
-
The strength of the discussion and argumentation.
-
The correctness of references and citations.
-
The clarity of language and presentation.
Reviewers provide detailed reports containing their constructive feedback and recommendations regarding acceptance, rejection, or the need for revisions.
-
-
Evaluation of Review Reports: The editorial board carefully studies and discusses the reviewers' reports. In case of a significant discrepancy between reviewers' recommendations, the manuscript may be sent to a third reviewer for a final decision.
-
Decision and Communication to the Author: Based on the reviewers' reports and recommendations, the editorial board makes a final decision on the manuscript, which will be one of the following:
-
Accept for publication.
-
Accept pending minor or major revisions.
-
Reject.
The author is notified of the decision and, in the case of a revision request, is provided with copies of the reviewers' comments (while maintaining reviewer anonymity) to assist in improving the work.
-
-
Revisions (if required): If revisions are requested, the author must address all points raised, prepare a revised version of the manuscript, and submit it along with a point-by-point response to the reviewers' comments within the specified timeframe. The revised version may be sent back to the original reviewers or evaluated by the editorial board to ensure the requested changes have been adequately addressed.
-
Final Acceptance and Publication: Once the manuscript fulfills all publication requirements and any required revisions are satisfactorily completed, a final acceptance decision is issued. The manuscript is then scheduled for publication in an upcoming issue of the journal.
Tafani Journal for Humanities and Social Sciences emphasizes the importance of timely review and strives to complete the process as swiftly as possible while maintaining rigorous evaluation standards. The journal highly values the reviewers' input, considering it essential for enhancing the quality of published research and achieving its scientific objectives, and extends its gratitude for their voluntary contributions to the scholarly community.
