This research aims to develop an intelligent traffic signal system based on real-time traffic density analysis using a set of sensors, with the objective of enhancing traffic flow and reducing congestion. The proposed system is built on a microcontroller platform (Arduino Mega) and employs a genetic algorithm to optimize traffic signal timing according to data collected from the sensors.
In addition, the system is designed to handle emergency situations by providing priority to emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire trucks. It also incorporates surveillance capabilities through the use of monitoring cameras to detect traffic violations.
The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system effectively reduces vehicle waiting time and significantly improves the efficiency of traffic intersection management, making it a promising solution for modern intelligent transportation systems.
