Abstract

This study aims to examine society's perception of individuals released after serving their sentences and to analyze how such perceptions influence the likelihood of their return to criminal behavior. The research is based on the assumption that social stigma represents one of the major challenges faced by released offenders, as it hinders their social reintegration and limits their opportunities for employment, family support, and behavioral stability. Using a sociological and analytical approach supported by field data, the study explores the relationship between negative social perceptions and the reproduction of criminal behavior. The findings indicate that societal attitudes play a crucial role in shaping the post-release pathways of former offenders, and that providing a supportive, stigma-free environment significantly reduces the chances of recidivism and enhances successful social reintegration.
